Antoine Griezmann is close to agreeing terms with Orlando City, with only minor details left, though his decision is not yet final. According to L'Équipe, talks have advanced.
Tuesday's 4-1 win over Bruges at the Estadio Metropolitano may have been among his last home outings for Atlético Madrid.
Inside the club, many now accept he could leave for MLS, with some calling a deal almost done and others putting it near 95%. Executives have little leverage, as the 34-year-old has had a tacit understanding since his June 2027 extension that he can go when he wishes.
His camp also cites a low release clause that would not deter Orlando. Broad agreement is in place, with salary among the final points, after talks began last week and quickened this week.
Griezmann wants the MLS move and has recently told Diego Simeone. The coach would rather he stayed until season's end to boost title chances, yet did not push hard to keep him. Atlético's record scorer on 210 goals still wants time to weigh the timing.
He is uneasy about leaving mid-season with the Copa del Rey and a more uncertain Champions League still alive. Player and club are already mapping out a possible farewell. Atlético won the first leg 4-0 and will visit Camp Nou on three March for the semi-final second leg.
