The season started so well for FC Nantes. Undefeated in their first three games and with wins in two of those encounters, Les Canaris looked to defy expectations of a relegation battle. However, those hopes were short-lived. The second of those two victories, against Montpellier HSC at the end of August, is the most recent win for Nantes.
As a result, it is no surprise that the future of Antoine Kombouaré is being called into question. After being sacked towards the end of the previous season, he returned in the dugout at the Beaujoire less than a year later, replacing Jocelyn Gourvennec, who himself came into the job earlier in the campaign, replacing Pierre Aristouy.
Arriving in March, Kombouaré saved Nantes from relegation but without a win in their last nine, and having lost their last four, his job security has been called into question. Whilst this remains the case, L’Équipe understands that FCN’s hierarchy intends on keeping Kombouaré in his post.
He will therefore be in the dugout at the weekend as Nantes take on top-of-the-table Paris Saint-Germain, one of Kombouaré’s former clubs.
