Anton Stach issued a social media update after suffering an ankle injury in Leeds United’s FA Cup quarter-final shootout win at West Ham on Sunday.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the midfielder rolled his right ankle late in the first half after a heavy challenge by Max Kilman, moments after Alphonse Areola had saved his effort. Referee Craig Pawson declined a penalty following a VAR check that judged it a natural coming together.

Stach received treatment, briefly returned, then was replaced by Brenden Aaronson. He later posted a picture of his swollen ankle with the caption “stop acting”, before adding on Monday that he hopes to be back soon and thanking supporters.

Leeds were 1-0 ahead at the time through Ao Tanaka and on top in midfield. After Aaronson’s introduction they lost some control and, despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin making it 2-0 from the spot, conceded twice in added time. They won 4-2 on penalties, Lucas Perri saving from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Felipe.

Stach will be assessed this week. Daniel Farke said it is probably a ligament injury, making him a serious doubt for Manchester United on Monday, though he hopes it is not too bad.

Joe Rodon also went off with an ankle problem after the break and was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw. Noah Okafor, recently back from a hamstring lay-off, was withdrawn with what appeared to be cramps.
