António Oliveira has taken Corinthians to court over a claimed debt of about R$500,000. Filed late last year, the case had yet to reach the club’s legal team at Parque São Jorge.
ESPN reports the sum covers three missed instalments from a settlement after his July 2024 exit. Corinthians owed R$1 million to be paid in six instalments, the first three were settled, the rest were not.
He sought an amicable resolution but, after no response, turned to the courts via his company AO Sports. Lawyer João Henrique Chiminazzo represents him. Corinthians will respond only once notified.
Appointed in February 2024 to replace Mano Menezes, he took charge of 27 games, winning 12, drawing eight and losing seven, a 54 percent return. He was sacked in July after defeat to Palmeiras, with the side struggling in the league.
He later worked at Sport and Remo and is currently without a club.
“It has a phenomenal, fantastic fanbase that I learned to love. I have absolute respect for the club, the players and the supporters, and one day I would like to return,” he told ge.globo.
