Earlier today, Real Madrid announced that Antonio Rudiger has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay for one more season.
The veteran German’s previous deal stood to expire on 30 June, but both parties were always keen on furthering the partnership.
An agreement had been reached after negotiations and the club finally made the official announcement of the defender’s extension until 2027.
Following the club’s official announcement of his renewal, Rudiger took to Instagram to share a strong and confident message with the fans.
“I am not done here. Renewing my journey with Real Madrid is a proud moment, but more than anything, it’s a commitment to turning things around together with my teammates,” Rudiger started.
Acknowledging the difficult period for the team over the past couple of seasons, he noted:
“We are going through a demanding phase. The setbacks have tested us, but this is exactly where I want to be.”
Making it clear that he remains motivated and determined to lead Real Madrid back to the top, Rudiger further wrote:
“Some people may have written me off after my injuries, but that only motivated me even more. So, thank you for that. Anyone who knows me knows that I love challenges – I thrive on them.”
Concluding, he added: “Even though things haven’t been simple last season, my belief remains absolute: We stand together, we fight together and we will overcome this together. Now more than ever. ¡Hala Madrid!“

Real Madrid are a team going through a transition, having lost a number of senior figures and leaders in recent years. Most recently, the club bid goodbye to club captain Dani Carvajal and veteran defender David Alaba.
Given the situation, retaining Rudiger for another season makes a lot of sense. The German, despite having had some issues last season, remains one of the most respected figures in the locker room.
And, he is the type of player who has everything needed to thrive under the management of Jose Mourinho.
