Luiz Araújo has reached a new milestone in his Flamengo career, delivering three assists across three consecutive matches, while also adding a goal during this period. The winger’s contributions have played a substantial role in Flamengo’s recent performances in both the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão, particularly in high-pressure knockout fixtures.
In the victory over Internacional on August 14, Araújo provided the assist for the winning goal and registered two shots, directly influencing Flamengo’s advancement in the Libertadores round of 16. His involvement was no less significant in the 1-0 win against Deportivo Táchira in late May, where he again assisted and remained a constant threat in the final third, recording three shots on goal. Perhaps his most impactful performance came during Flamengo’s 2-0 win against LDU Quito in mid-May. Araújo not only scored but set up the other goal, participating in both of Flamengo’s successful strikes that evening, while maintaining an attacking presence throughout.
Across these highlighted matches, his season statistics stand at one goal, three assists, and nine attempts on goal, while receiving just one yellow card and no dismissals. For Flamengo’s decisive moments, Araújo has contributed a direct goal involvement in each of these four key games.
The current sequence of three consecutive matches with an assist marks a first in Araújo’s tenure with Flamengo, reflecting an upward shift in his influence on the squad. Previously noted for his speed and shooting, Araújo has expanded his role, establishing himself as a creative fulcrum in the team’s attack.
Collectively with Arrascaeta, Araújo accounts for roughly 42% of Flamengo’s goals in 2025. This partnership has been central to the club’s offensive output, with Araújo’s consistency in pivotal matches drawing attention across the Brazilian sports media landscape. Flamengo’s historical figures, including Zico, have publicly highlighted the impact Araújo brings in crucial moments.
In comparison with other wingers and attacking midfielders in Série A, Araújo ranks among the league’s assist leaders in recent rounds, surpassing several established players in his position. His track record against leading opponents, notably LDU and Internacional, has further anchored his status as a first-choice selection on the team sheet.
Statistically, Araújo has directly influenced the result in 75% of the significant matches analyzed, underlining his reliability on big occasions. This run of form coincides with periods where team creativity has been needed most, especially during Arrascaeta’s absence through suspension or injury. Araújo’s impact extends beyond raw numbers, shaping the tempo and inventiveness in Flamengo’s forward play during critical stages of the campaign.
