According to an update from Jose Luis Sanchez, while speaking on El Chiringuito TV, it has come to light that Antonio Rudiger is set to be rested for the upcoming league clash against Girona

It is not a decision based on form or fitness concerns, but rather a well-thought-out move from the bench.

The journalist mentions that Alvaro Arbeloa is keen to avoid burnout at a crucial stage of the season.

Rudiger has been one of the most heavily relied-upon players in recent weeks, starting a long run of consecutive matches and carrying a significant defensive workload.

This is where the bigger picture comes into play.

All eyes on Bayern Munich clash

With the Champions League quarter-final second leg looming in Munich, Real Madrid are taking no chances.

The German defender is expected to play a central role in that fixture, and the coaching staff want him in peak physical condition rather than risking fatigue in a domestic game.

As a result, the spotlight now shifts to Eder Militao, who is set to return to the starting XI.

The Brazilian centre-back has endured a disrupted season but now has a key opportunity to re-establish rhythm at a decisive moment in the campaign.

Alongside him, Dean Huijsen is expected to complete the central defensive pairing.

It is a combination that has not been seen from the start in several months.

In fact, the last time both featured together in the lineup dates back to early November against Liverpool.

While resting Rudiger makes strategic sense, it also introduces a degree of uncertainty, given the lack of recent continuity between Militao and Huijsen.

However, Arbeloa appears willing to accept short-term adjustments in La Liga to maximise performance in Europe.

It is a classic approach that prioritises the Champions League when the margins become fine and every physical advantage matters.

For Rudiger, the rest could prove decisive, while for Militao and Huijsen, it is a chance to step up.
