Arena Pantanal will again stage a Copa do Brasil tie between clubs from outside Mato Grosso as Fortaleza face Palmeiras at 21:30 Brasília time on Wednesday in the last-16 second leg. It will be only the stadium's second such occasion.

According to Globo.com, the venue's first official match was Mixto 0-0 Santos on 2 April 2014 in the first round. Santos then won the return leg 3-0 at Vila Belmiro.

In May 2014, Cuiabá drew 1-1 with Internacional, the ground's final official fixture before the World Cup.

The first Copa do Brasil meeting there between two out-of-state sides came on 27 August 2014, Bragantino 1-0 Corinthians in the last-16 first leg, with Sandro scoring. No such pairing returned until now.

Subsequent home cup dates for Mato Grosso teams included Dom Bosco 2-2 Athletico-PR in 2016 and Luverdense 0-2 Corinthians in 2017.

Fortaleza are the designated hosts for the second leg, moved to Cuiabá for R$ 2.2 million. Palmeiras won the first leg 3-0 at the Nubank Parque.

Beyond the cup, the ground has staged Santos 1-0 São Paulo and Goiás 1-0 Flamengo in 2014, and Fluminense 4-0 Flamengo in 2018. It also hosted the 2022 Supercopa do Brasil, Atlético-MG beating Flamengo 8-7 on penalties after 2-2, and Brazil's 1-1 draw with Venezuela in 2023 before 40,020 fans, generating more than R$ 12 million and featuring a popcorn incident with Neymar.
