David Beckham is expected to receive a knighthood in King Charles' upcoming Birthday Honours list.
The ex-England football captain, now 50, was made an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) back in 2003.
As reported by BBC Sport, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is poised to gain additional recognition - not only for his achievements on the pitch, but also for his broader contributions to British public life. The full list of honourees is due to be revealed next week.
Beckham earned 115 caps for England and also represented clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan before retiring in 2013.
He was initially put forward for a knighthood in 2011, according to reports.
In 2024, Beckham was named an ambassador for The King's Foundation, where he supports King Charles' educational initiatives and efforts to deepen young people’s awareness of the natural world.
He is also a co-owner of League Two club Salford City and serves as both president and co-owner of Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami in the U.S.
Beckham helped establish the Inter Miami CF Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to uplifting under-represented communities through the power of football.
A Government spokesperson said: "We do not comment on speculation on honours," while Beckham's representatives declined to comment.
