Arrascaeta has been ranked 22nd in a global list of the game’s most decisive players, with Lionel Messi first and Cristiano Ronaldo 15th, according to Coluna Do Fla.

The list comes from a CIES Football Observatory study of 67 leading leagues, using advanced metrics for chance creation, finishing and direct influence over the past year. Weighting multiplied individual contributions by a match coefficient benchmarked against the top 100 players.

The Flamengo playmaker, crowned Rei da América and winner of the Brasileirão Golden Ball last year, produced 25 goals and 20 assists in 64 games in 2025. He also helped the club lift the Libertadores, Brasileirão, Carioca and Supercopa.

Messi, now at Inter Miami, led the standings with 59 goal involvements, 37 goals and 22 assists. Among Brazilian sides, Arrascaeta was the only representative, while South America also supplied Alfredo Morelos of Atlético Nacional and Facundo Callejo of Cusco.

The top positions featured Harry Kane in second, Anders Dreyer third and Kylian Mbappé fourth, with Erling Haaland 20th. Michael Olise was listed in the top 10.

Arrascaeta has opened 2026 with three goals in eight games. He will look to add to that in Sunday’s Campeonato Carioca final against Fluminense at the Maracanã, kicking off at 18:00 Brasília time.
