This summer, Paris Saint-Germain bolstered their backline with the addition of Willian Pacho. Moreover, information emerged on Tuesday regarding the clubs that the player rejected to join the capital club and be part of this youthful project.

Earlier this month, Le10Sport revealed that Liverpool attempted a last-minute swoop for the player. However, the Reds were too late, as Frankfurt had already committed to PSG, resulting in the late attempt reportedly falling short.

However, Liverpool wasn’t the only Premier League club to miss out on winning the Pacho sweepstakes. Le Parisien shared details about what transpired behind the scenes in PSG’s race to sign the 22-year-old.

According to the French media outlet, PSG manager Luis Enrique made it clear that he’s looking for players who are driven and ambitious. Even though Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Arsenal were all interested, he chose PSG.

The club’s leaders were confident in their decision, having received strong assurances about the players’ mental attitudes.

Pacho arrived in Frankfurt in 2023 and made 44 appearances with the German side and registered two assists. Now, he’ll look to replicate the success he had in Germany with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
