In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb revealed that Arsenal are keeping a keen eye on Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. It has been mentioned that the Gunners could move in for the Nigerian attacker if they fail to land some of their other targets in this summer transfer window.
Lookman enjoyed a productive campaign at the Italian club as he put in a lot of impressive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Nigerian sensation banged in 20 goals and earned seven assists in 40 matches for Atalanta last season in all competitions.
The 27-year-old caught the eye at times up top and did well to average 3.24 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He kept 39.5% of his attempts on target. Lookman even distributed possession relatively well in the opponent’s half, based on his pass completion rate of 72.5% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Lookman is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and can strike the ball with power from long range.
The Nigerian talent is primarily a striker but can also operate as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League.
Lookman would bring more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is good enough to serve as an ideal back-up to Viktor Gyokeres at the North London club.
At 27, Lookman is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to consider in this transfer window. He would even help Arsenal compete across all fronts over the next few years. Therefore, it makes sense for Arteta to bring him on board this summer.
