Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old is a target for Manchester City as well. Livramento has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the league, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal.
Ben White has been linked with an exit, and Arsenal need to replace him properly. The Newcastle star could be the ideal acquisition. He will help Arsenal tighten up defensively, and he will help them going forward as well.
The young right back has the attributes to develop into a top-class player, and joining an elite club could bring out the best in him. Arsenal have a formidable team, and they are pushing for major trophies. They are the favourites to win the Premier League title this season, and the defender could be attracted to the idea of joining them.
Newcastle do not want to lose the player and are hoping to agree a new deal with him, but nothing has been agreed yet.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Livramento is a top player, obviously he’s had his injury problems this season as well, but when he has played, he’s one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. “So it’s no surprise that there’s interest from Arsenal, obviously we know Manchester City are long-term admirers of Livramento and see him as a potential player who can come in and slot in at right back for them. “He’s under contract until 2028. There has been talks over a new deal but nothing agreed as yet. “Newcastle, they don’t want to lose their top players, but I think obviously as those contract talks drag on and they find themselves out of European football for next season, they’re probably bracing themselves for interest for the likes of Livramento and others.”
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal follow up on their interest with an official proposal for the 23-year-old in the summer.
The former Chelsea Academy graduate is well settled in the Premier League, and he could make an immediate impact at the London club. However, convincing Newcastle will not be easy, and they could demand a substantial fee for the defender.
