It's not the first time recently that Arsenal have considered raiding Blackburn for a teenage striker. In April, it was reported that they were interested in 16-year-old Harvey Higgins, who had been described as "the next Jamie Vardy" due to his ferocious pace.

But now their attention has turned elsewhere, and another young star is now on their radar in the form of Tyjon.

Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Arsenal have Igor Tyjon from Rovers on their radar, and they may be prepared to offer Blackburn more than £1 million for 17-year-old England youth international.

The teenager, who can also represent Poland, could go for even more than the starting seven-figure fee with add-ons included, but Blackburn do not have long to get a fee for him if he does leave, with his scholarship set to end next summer.

This is not the first time that ex-Rochdale youth Tyjon has come across the radar of a Premier League giant. In June 2024, The Sun reported that Tyjon was of interest to Manchester United, but he went on to sign a scholarship deal with Rovers instead.

2024-25 was somewhat of a small breakthrough year for Tyjon, who made his league debut for Blackburn in August 2024, coming off the substitutes' bench during their 3-0 win against Bristol City, and also made a five-minute appearance during their match against Sunderland in April.

At under-21's level for Rovers, the teenager made seven appearances for the club's Premier League 2 team last season, finding the back of the net four times, and he's already made his mark at international youth level for both Poland and England.

Blackburn Rovers may fear repeat Rory Finneran, Newcastle United situation when it comes to Igor Tyjon

Blackburn finished last season in 7th place in the Championship, just two points short of a play-off place, and with Valerien Ismael having been in charge of the team since February and no changes having been made at the end of the season, find themselves in an arguably more stable position than other Championship clubs who offloaded their managers at the end of the season and haven't yet appointed replacements.

Ismael got a brief look at Tyjon at the end of their April victory away at Sunderland, and will obviously be well aware of what he can do in training and for the under-21's, but Blackburn are vulnerable once more to a Premier League club coming in for their talents.

They saw this last summer with midfielder Rory Finneran, who had already made his debut at the age of 15, but Newcastle United came and whisked him away prior to being able to sign scholarship forms with Rovers, with a tribunal determining the fee for which the Magpies will pay - it has still not been resolved nearly a year on.

With Tyjon entering the final year of his two-year scholarship, the club have a big decision to make. If they can, Rovers can convince the forward that he has a clear pathway into the first-team and try to get him to put pen to paper on a professional contract, or if that doesn't work, they can try and strike a deal with a club like Arsenal without the need for it to go to a tribunal next year - something which can be long and messy.
