Arsenal have been given a fresh boost in their efforts to make a blockbuster signing of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

The Athletic report that Xabi Alonso and the club are willing to sell the Brazilian if the right offer is made. It will cost between €80 million and €90 million to sign the 24-year-old this summer. The Gunners are currently leading the way in the race for the Brazilian international.

Mikel Arteta’s side are also continuing their pursuit of England internationals Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. Fabrizio Romano says that fresh talks have been held with Madueke, with the Chelsea winger looking increasingly close to an exit.

Elsewhere, another Arsenal target, Nico Williams, has signed a long-term contract extension with Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona had been leading the race to sign the Spanish winger. However, the 22-year-old has ended the speculation by penning an eight-year contract extension. The new deal will keep him with the Basque side until 2035.

With Barcelona missing out on Williams, this could open the door for Marcus Rashford. The Camp Nou is believed to be the Englishman’s preferred destination after falling out of favour with Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. The Catalans have also seen efforts to sign Liverpool’s Luis Diaz rebuffed in the last week.

Despite this, The Independent are reporting that Rashford is expecting to take full part in United’s pre-season. The 27-year-old officially returned to Old Trafford on Tuesday following the conclusion of his loan spell with Aston Villa. The club have set a £40 million price tag on the English international and he remains available this summer.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that a deal has been agreed with Chelsea for Jamie Gittens. The winger will cost Enzo Maresca’s side £48.5 million with a further £3.5 million in potential add-ons. The England Under-21 player will become Chelsea’s fifth signing of the summer.

Finally, Arsenal have confirmed the departure of Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese defender has left the club by mutual consent after spending four years at the Emirates.
