Gyokeres has not made the trip after being forced off at halftime of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Burnley with a muscular issue.

“He’s definitely not available,” said Arteta. “He hasn’t trained today and we need to do some more tests and scans over the next few days to understand the full extent of the injury. This game, he’s not available.”

Asked if he is concerned or if this is a short-term issue, Arteta replied: “I am concerned. Because he hasn’t had many muscular issues, and he needed to leave the pitch and he was feeling something.

“It’s never a good sign for a player who is explosive. We are digging in a little bit more to understand the extent and where we are in terms of the injury.”

The Sweden international is one of six Arsenal attackers on the treatment table, leaving Arteta without a recognised no.9 in the squad. Martin Zubimendi will also miss the Slavia clash due to suspension.

Arteta conceded that it was “very unusual” to have four attacking players to all be out with knee injuries at the same time.

“Obviously, we have four knees, with Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, (Noni) Madueke and Martin Odegaard, which is very, very unusual, all of them with long-term. And then we have some muscular injuries with other players, which can happen and every club is having.

“I think it’s very unusual to have that many players in the front line with issues. We have to face it. We’ve been facing it in a brilliant way, and we’ll continue like this.”
