The recent dismissal of Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid head coach has shocked the footballing world, with many footballing personalities reacting to the sacking.
Many are not impressed with the way the Real Madrid players did not respect Xabi Alonso and his authority as the head coach.
Thierry Henry has become the latest personality to comment on Alonso’s sacking, as he notably criticised the club
During one of his segments at CBS (h/t MARCA), Henry admitted he found the Alonso dismissal quite absurd despite acknowledging the pressure often associated with coaching clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“I always find it ridiculous that a manager can have problems after six months in a job. But, you know, at a club of the level of Real Madrid or Barça, you can wake up and hear some bad news. Things can change, and they do. I find it absurd,” he said.
The French footballing legend went on to offer his backing to Xabi Alonso, claiming that Real Madrid never created the environment for him to succeed.

“I don’t think they should question the coach. If you have a coach in the position, you try to figure out what he can do.
“For some, he’s coaching too much and not managing enough. I don’t agree, but that’s how it is. I feel sorry for Alonso because you can see what he did with Leverkusen when he had the chance to coach a team that would listen to what he was going to do,” he said.
Finally, Henry pointed out the cultural difference between Barcelona and Real Madrid and how players often dominate the environment at Santiago Bernabeu.
“In Barcelona, they let the players be players. They train coaches there. They have a style of play that must be respected.
“In Real Madrid, the approach is different. There, it’s 90% players, 10% coach. You have to let them take the reins. Sometimes, ego gets involved, and things get complicated,” he concluded.
