Arsenal are close to finalising a new deal for Leandro Trossard off the back of positive talks in recent weeks, according to BBC Sport.
Trossard, whose current deal expires next summer, was a transfer target for Saudi Pro League clubs last January but was keen on remaining at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal and Trossard have been negotiating over a new deal since then, and there is now a high level of optimism that an agreement will be reached soon.
While he has struggled to nail down a starting berth, Trossard has been a reliable back-up option for Mikel Arteta since joining from Brighton & Hove Albion.
In keeping with his first three Arsenal goals, which all came off the bench, he scored the most goals as a substitute in Europe’s top five leagues last season.
Despite Trossard’s impending new contract, Arsenal are still expected to bring in a left-sided attacker and are reportedly in contact over a deal for out-of-favour Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.
The Gunners are set to record a third consecutive second-place finish in the Premier League and are expected to be active in the transfer market.
A new centre forward is also expected to come through the door with Arsenal eyeing Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko amongst others.
For now, the Gunners will be focused on signing off on their league campaign with a victory when they visit St Mary’s on Sunday to face already relegated Southampton.
