Arsenal 'on course' to sign PL midfielder

Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Ornstein reports that the Gunners and Newcastle have struck a deal, with a 'total agreement' nearing.

Arsenal have been linked with the Brazilian midfielder throughout the summer transfer window.

Guimarães would be the Magpies' third high-profile departure, following Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali, who joined Barcelona and Tottenham, respectively.

In addition, Eddie Howe stepped down as the Toon boss in late July, with Matthias Jaissle rumoured to replace the English coach at St James' Park.
