The Vinicius Junior contract saga at Real Madrid this summer is turning out to be much more complicated than anyone envisioned it would be.

Los Blancos have tried to reach an agreement with the Brazilian’s camp over a new deal for quite some time now, without any breakthrough.

Madrid are said to have submitted a “take-it-or-leave-it” offer to Vinicius Junior amid interest from Premier League champions Arsenal.

Now, according to Jose Felix Diaz in AS, Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Vinicius, with manager Mikel Arteta personally leading the club’s efforts to convince the Real Madrid forward to move to north London.

Arteta wants Vinicius to be the face of Arsenal

Arteta has already spoken to the Brazilian and outlined a project in which Vinicius would become the central figure of Arsenal’s ambitions.

The report claims Arteta has made it clear to Vinicius just how important he would be at the Emirates.

Arteta has told the Brazilian that the Gunners’ 2026-27 project would revolve around him, believing he is the player who can help them take the final step in Europe.

That message has already been delivered to the 26-year-old, who is expected to hold crucial talks with Real Madrid officials after returning to the Spanish capital.

Arsenal waiting for Vinicius’ decision

While Vinicius’ agents have denied any form of agreement with Arsenal, the Gunners’ interest in signing the Brazilian is very real.

The next step depends on the player’s own stance.

If Vinicius signals that he is open to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta would then be expected to intensify negotiations for a transfer that could be worth around €150 million.

With only one year remaining on the Brazilian’s current contract, Arsenal believe there is an opportunity to test Madrid’s resolve.

Real Madrid still hold the cards

Despite Arsenal’s growing confidence, Vinicius has consistently expressed his desire to remain at Real Madrid.

The coming days are therefore expected to be decisive, with the Brazilian set to meet club officials following his return from the summer break.

From Madrid’s perspective, the situation would only change if Vinicius does not want to accept what they consider their last contract offer.

In that case, the Spanish club could choose to part ways with Vinicius this summer rather than lose him for free in another year’s time.

Arsenal, meanwhile, continue to remain attentive to the situation and wait for a definitive answer from Vinicius Junior.
