Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a potential transfer opportunity as Ajax winger Mika Godts could end up moving for below his current €75m asking price.

The exciting young Belgian has really caught the eye in the Eredivisie in recent times, establishing himself as one of the biggest talents outside Europe’s big five leagues.

A recent report from TEAMtalk claimed that both Arsenal and Chelsea had scouted Godts in a game in which he scored a goal of the season contender with a stunning solo run.

Manchester United and Newcastle have also been linked with Godts by Football Insider, but now Arsenal are the main name being mentioned in a fresh report from Fichajes.

Arsenal sense Mika Godts transfer opportunity

Arsenal are said to be big fans of Godts, and they’re keeping a close eye on what happens with Ajax this season as they could miss out on European football.

According to the Fichajes report, that could likely mean the Amsterdam outfit’s negotiating position for a talent like Godts is significantly weakened.

For now, the 20-year-old is expected to cost around €75m, according to the report, but finishing outside the European places would probably bring that price tag down.

Arsenal need more inspiration in attack

Arsenal may be in the Champions League final and top of the Premier League table, but there are undoubtedly some weaknesses in Mikel Arteta’s side’s attack.

Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have been hugely inconsistent this season, while even Bukayo Saka has struggled to hit his usual heights, largely due to being in and out of the team with injury.

There’s surely room for someone to come in and provide a new element of spark and unpredictability, with Godts looking like a talent well worth investing in.

It would be a big step up from Ajax to Arsenal, but Godts surely has it in him to become a genuinely top player if he continues to develop and benefits from the guidance of an elite coach like Arteta.
