Arsenal are considering a move for West Ham technical director Tim Steidten as the club look to replace Edu.
The North London side are assessing their options after Edu’s shock exit from the Emirates, with the Brazilian having overseen a successful period of progress at Arsenal.
Alongside head coach Mikel Arteta, Edu led an overhaul of the Arsenal squad that has turned the Gunners into Premier League title challengers over the last two seasons.
He is set to take on a new challenge under Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club model, which includes Greece’s Olympiacos and Portugal’s Rio Ave.
Steidten has emerged as a potential target for Arsenal, according to The Telegraph. The German has been with West Ham since 2023, having previously worked at Bayer Leverkusen.
In Germany, he was responsible for signings including Florian Wirtz, Exequiel Palacios and Jeremie Frimpong, crucial members of the club’s maiden Bundesliga title success last season.
However, he has come under pressure this season following West Ham’s difficult start to the Premier League season. Steidten led a recruitment drive that saw over £130m spent in the summer but several of the signings have struggled to make an impression so far this season. The Hammers are 14th in the table ahead of this weekend’s clash with Everton.
