Arsenal vs Mansfield Town: FA Cup Rotation Expected

Arsenal travel to face Mansfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday lunchtime, with Mikel Arteta expected to rotate his squad heavily as the schedule tightens. The trip to One Call Stadium arrives less than 72 hours after the Gunners’ midweek victory over Brighton, and only days before a crucial Champions League meeting with Bayer Leverkusen.

The FA Cup remains a key competition for Arsenal as they continue to compete on multiple fronts this season. Progression to the quarter finals would keep their domestic cup ambitions alive, but squad management will be essential given the demanding calendar.

Facing League One opposition in Mansfield Town provides Arteta with an opportunity to rest several regular starters while still fielding a competitive side capable of advancing in the FA Cup.

Rotation Plans Ahead of Busy Schedule

Arteta is expected to shuffle his pack significantly for the FA Cup clash with Mansfield Town. Arsenal’s manager must balance the need for progression with the physical demands placed on his squad.

Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi could be among those given a breather after playing regularly in recent weeks. Mikel Merino remains a long term absentee due to a foot injury, while Martin Odegaard’s availability is uncertain as he continues to manage a knee issue.

Defensively, Ben White has missed the last few matches and remains a doubt, although his return would provide a timely boost for Arsenal. William Saliba is also listed as a doubt, adding further uncertainty to the back line ahead of the FA Cup tie.

One confirmed absence is Myles Lewis Skelly, who serves a one match FA Cup suspension after picking up yellow cards against Portsmouth and Wigan earlier in the competition.

Young Talent Could Feature at Mansfield

With rotation likely, several younger Arsenal players could be handed opportunities against Mansfield Town.

Riccardo Calafiori is expected to come into the side as Arteta manages the workload of Piero Hincapie. Meanwhile, 16 year old Marli Salmon is in contention to start and could gain valuable experience in a senior FA Cup fixture.

Midfield changes are also likely. Kai Havertz has returned to full fitness and may feature in a deeper role, possibly alongside Eberechi Eze, who has played regularly but could still retain his place as Arteta reshapes the midfield.

Max Dowman could also see minutes during the match. However, after recovering from an ankle injury, a substitute appearance appears more likely than a starting role.

Predicted Arsenal Lineup for FA Cup Tie

Despite the expected changes, Arsenal should still field a strong side capable of overcoming Mansfield Town in the FA Cup.

Gabriel Martinelli has developed a reputation as a cup performer this season and will hope to feature again. Bukayo Saka may be rested from the start, while Gabriel Jesus is the most likely option to lead the attack.

Arteta could also use the game to help Viktor Gyokeres rediscover his scoring rhythm, although Jesus remains the more probable starter.

Predicted Arsenal XI:Kepa, White, Mosquera, Salmon, Calafiori, Norgaard, Eze, Havertz, Madueke, Jesus, Martinelli

The FA Cup fifth round clash between Arsenal and Mansfield Town kicks off at 12:15pm GMT on Saturday March 7, 2026 at One Call Stadium, and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.

For Arsenal, the objective is straightforward, rotate where necessary, manage the squad carefully, and still find a way past Mansfield Town to keep their FA Cup hopes alive.
