Journalist Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that Arsenal are trying to sign Dan Bentley from Wolves as cover for David Raya.

Nixon adds that the player could be keen on the move even as a third-choice option for Arsenal, with the journalist claiming the Gunners are likely to struggle to find a taker for Aaron Ramsdale at the price they want.

Arsenal reportedly value Ramsdale at £50m, and if they can’t sell him at that price, Bentley would likely arrive as the third-choice option.

The signing of Bentley has a few potential benefits. For a start, he has Premier League experience. Though he played as a backup at Wolves this season, he did feature five times, including in a game against Arsenal.

On top of that, Bentley is homegrown, having completed his footballing education with Arsenal themselves.

The 30-year-old played for Arsenal as a youth player between 2001 and 2008, before moving on to progress into senior football with Southend United.

Bentley then played for then-Championship sides Brentford and Bristol City, before eventually making the step back up to the Premier League in 2022.

Arsenal are also interested in Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia this summer, but that move seems to depend more on Ramsdale’s departure. Bentley’s signing feels like a more realistic option regardless of the eventual decision on the England goalkeeper.
