Arsenal vs Manchester City team news

Once again, the hosts will have to make do without their star man, Bukayo Saka, as the England international is still recovering from his long-term hamstring injury.

Another star dealing with a major injury is Gabriel Jesus, who ruptured his ACL earlier in January, and will be unavailable until the latter stages of 2025.

Ben White has been out with a knee injury for the last two weeks and is nearing a return to training. However, he is expected to be out for a few more weeks.

Also absent from the Gunners’ back line is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is progressing in his recovery from a second knee injury this season, but is still not match fit.

Neto stepped in for David Raya and debuted for Arsenal against Girona on Wednesday. However, the Gunners are hopeful that Raya will be back in between the sticks against City.

Pep Guardiola’s visiting side may be five men short for Sunday’s affair. Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku missed City’s recent Champions League win against Club Brugge and will again be unavailable.

Oscar Bobb is on his way back from his long-term injury and, while he is targeting an imminent return, there are no signs he will be in contention on Sunday afternoon.

There is also no word on Nathan Ake’s status but he is expected to be out. Capping off City’s injury woes is Rodri, who has been sidelined for most of the season after rupturing his ACL in September.

“Big Six” records compared

Mikel Arteta’s side are undefeated against the Premier League “Big Six” this season, both winning and drawing three games.

In their reverse fixture against City, they were denied victory on the road thanks to a 98th-minute leveller from John Stones.

Arsenal have won just one game at home to City in the Premier League in seven attempts since 2015 – their last was a 1-0 victory in 2023-24.

However, City are winless in their last four games in all competitions against the Gunners and have struggled against the league’s best this season.

Guardiola’s men have managed just two wins, a draw and three losses against the “Big Six”. Meanwhile, against the Premier League’s current top half, their record is also unimpressive: four wins, one draw and four losses.
