Gunners get back to winning ways as Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka both shine at the Emirates
Arsenal are celebrating a crucial return to winning ways in the Premier League. The Gunners successfully ended a damaging four-game winless top-flight run that had seen them drop down to fourth place and nine points off early leaders Liverpool ahead of the recent international break, brushing aside high-flying Nottingham Forest 3-0 on a memorable afternoon at the Emirates Stadium.
Confident Arsenal were on top from the outset in storm-hit north London on Saturday, with Jurrien Timber seeing an early goal ruled out for an offside against Mikel Merino in the build-up. No matter, with Martin Odegaard soon teeing up Bukayo Saka for a terrific strike to break the deadlock shortly afterwards as the duo both put on a show for the home supporters.
Mikel Arteta will have been frustrated to see his side only 1-0 ahead at the interval, but half-time substitute Thomas Partey soon settled any lingering nerves with a tremendous effort of his own from the edge of the box. Teenage midfielder Ethan Nwaneri also came off the bench to register his first Premier League goal, with Forest seeing a late consolation from Jota Silva chalked off for offside.
