Arsenal Winger Set for Exit as Fulham Talks Progress Over Transfer Deal

Fulham are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal over the potential signing of winger Reiss Nelson, following fresh reports linking the 24-year-old with a move away from the Emirates.

As of writing, Arsenal have completed their sixth signing of the summer, officially welcoming Viktor Gyökeres to the club. With a versatile forward such as Eberechi Eze still on the radar, the Gunners are expected to trim the squad before pushing forward with more incomings.

Loan or permanent move on the table

One player being considered for departure is Reiss Nelson. According to The Athletic, Arsenal and Fulham are in advanced talks regarding a deal that could see Nelson return to West London.

The discussions are said to centre around two options, either a loan with an option to buy (potentially including a significant fee), or a permanent transfer. Arsenal’s preference, if it were to be a loan, would be to include an obligation to buy at the end of the spell.

While an agreement is close, the deal is not yet finalised, with further steps required before completion. However, progress is being made and Nelson is set for a return to a club he knows well.

Nelson’s previous spell at Fulham

Nelson spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Fulham but made just 12 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. His campaign was curtailed in December by a serious hamstring injury sustained against Brighton, which led to surgery and ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The winger recently featured for Arsenal in a pre-season friendly against AC Milan on 23rd July, making an 11-minute cameo. His last competitive appearance for the Gunners came nearly a year earlier, as a substitute in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in August 2024.
