Arsenal’s 2–0 win over Burnley came at a cost, with Viktor Gyökeres and Martín Zubimendi both picking up injury concerns, Mikel Arteta has confirmed.
Gyökeres opened the scoring before Declan Rice sealed the result, as Arsenal produced one of their most fluid attacking displays in weeks. The Gunners carved out several clear chances from open play — something they’ve struggled to do recently — and they six points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the table.
But it wasn’t all good news for Arteta’s side. Gyökeres failed to return after the break, while Zubimendi was forced off with about 15 minutes to go.
“Before that I think [Gyökeres] was one of the best games he’s played,” Arteta said. “I think overall his performance was exceptional. A part of the goal, and we had to take him off because he was feeling a little niggle. So we’ll have to wait and see.”
The injuries come at a busy time for Arsenal, who face two tricky away trips this week — against Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday and Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
