AS Monaco have made their first signing of the summer, completing a four-year deal for Flavio Nazinho. The club said on Tuesday 30 June that the 22-year-old joins from Cercle Bruges, Monaco's satellite club.
The Portuguese cost five million euros and is contracted until 30 June 2030. Last season he delivered three goals and seven assists in 32 appearances for Cercle Bruges.
A versatile left-back, wing-back or left winger, Nazinho is noted for pace and direct running, comfortable carrying the ball and creating from open play and set pieces. Despite his attacking intent, he defends with bite, picking up 14 yellow cards last term. He is viewed as suited to a back four or a back three.
Born in Almada near Lisbon, he made his senior debut in 2021. He has 23 youth caps for Portugal from under-16s to under-21s, featuring at last summer’s U21 Euros where Portugal exited in the quarter-finals.
Nazinho also has limited European experience, with two Champions League outings for Sporting and four Europa Conference League games for Bruges, helping the Belgians reach the last 16. His arrival follows the club confirming Caio Henrique’s departure.
