The forward Ansu Fati is currently playing away from FC Barcelona on loan at AS Monaco in Ligue 1, as he continues his search for continuity and a return to his best form after several difficult seasons marked by injuries.

Although he has not yet been able to consistently reach the explosive level he showed during his early breakthrough at Barça, Fati has managed to convince Monaco with his performances.

The 23-year-old has registered 26 appearances and 9 goals, becoming an important attacking option in a season in which the French side is competing for European qualification.

As a result, according to Mundo Deportivo, AS Monaco are now prepared to activate the €11 million purchase option included in the loan agreement in order to sign him permanently. However, the deal is not straightforward, as the Ligue 1 club wants the player to accept a significant reduction in his current salary in order to complete the move.

The main issue is his wage structure, which remains very high for Monaco. During this season, the French side has only covered part of his salary, while Barcelona have continued paying a significant portion. If a permanent transfer is completed, Monaco would take full responsibility for his wages, which is why they are insisting on a major salary adjustment.

At the same time, Ansu Fati had already extended his contract with Barcelona until 2028 before leaving on loan, deferring part of his salary as part of that agreement. This makes the financial structure more complex and is one of the key points being negotiated between all parties.

In addition, the deal includes a buy-back option for Barcelona worth just over €25 million, which would allow the Catalan club to re-sign the player in the future if he manages to rediscover consistent top-level form.

The final decision will now depend on whether an agreement can be reached over his salary conditions, which remain the main obstacle to a permanent move.
