Ashley Cheatley says Sunday will be a “tough challenge” ahead of Brentford Women’s London South East Division One North clash against title rivals Dulwich Hamlet Women Reserves, kick-off at 3pm.

The Bees have won every competitive fixture they have played so far this season and will look to continue their fine run of form as they welcome Dulwich to Bedfont Sports Club.

Cheatley scored the second goal in Brentford’s 2-0 win over Sport London E Benfica last weekend. The victory earned the side a place in the first round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup for only the second time in the club’s history.

“The win against Sport London was another big boost for us, we came into the game knowing it was going to be one of the toughest tests we’ve had so far this season,” said Cheatley.

“There is a real feel-good factor around the team at the moment, the mentality in the group is amazing and I’m confident we can get another important win on Sunday.”

The striker has made an incredible impact since joining the club from Ashford United in the summer, scoring 12 times in her first five league games.

Karleigh Osborne’s side currently sit third in the league on 15 points, with three games in hand over Dulwich who sit second on 16 points.

Also on 16 points are Leatherhead, who top the table on goal difference having played twice more than Brentford.

“Our league form has been brilliant so far and we have had some big wins to show for it, but we know Dulwich always offer a tough challenge,” explained Cheatley.

“Since joining the club it’s been clear to me that the main objective is to win the league so a win on Sunday will be a step in the right direction.”

Last time out

Brentford earned a place in the FA Cup first round proper for the second consecutive season, following a 2-0 win over Sport London E Benfica in their previous outing.

In the clash at Bedfont Sports Club, it was 0-0 after 45 minutes. The Bees earned some reward for effort in the second half, however, with Freya Worsley and Ashley Cheatley finding the back of the net to secure the win over the fifth-tier side.

The win was bittersweet for Brentford who had missed out on promotion last season with Sport London clinching the title by a point.

Dulwich have made a strong start to the LSE Division One North season where they are currently placed third in the league table.

Their biggest victory of the campaign came against Richmond Park on the opening day where they secured a 4-2 win.

Sunday’s visitors will be out for revenge following their 2-1 loss to Brentford in September.

Brentford claimed their first win of the season against Camden and Islington United, winning 4-2 thanks to a Chelsie Berry hat-trick.

Last season’s star goalscorer, Holly Hawkes, also added a goal as the Bees scored first and went on to claim an impressive three points.

The week prior, Brentford battled out a 1-1 draw with then-top-of-the-table Islington Borough to earn their first point of the season.

Despite going into the half-time break a goal down, they responded through Berry to equalise at Bedfont Sports Club.

Comets come into Sunday’s clash fifth in the league table, with two wins, a draw and a loss to their name.

Following a draw with Tooting Bec and a 2-1 loss to Camden Town to start the season, Comets have been in good form, beating Cray Valley and Wycombe Wanderers in FA Cup qualifying, while also beating Camden and Islington United (5-1) and Luton Town Reserves (3-2).
