In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus stated that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa is open to joining Arsenal this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners are facing competition from Liverpool in the race to land the English centre-back this off-season.

Konsa’s Impressive Form In English Football

Konsa enjoyed a solid campaign in the Premier League recently as he put in a series of impressive performances at the heart of Unai Emery’s defence. The 28-year-old scored two goals and secured one assist in 48 matches for the Villans last season in all competitions.

The England international is currently among the best centre-halves in the Premier League. Thus, it is no surprise that the Gunners are in the running to sign him in this transfer window.

His current contract at Villa Park will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Arsenal to land him on the cheap later this year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Konsa On Board?

Konsa is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team on the defensive end of the pitch. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is an accurate passer as well from the back.

The English sensation has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Arsenal if they manage to acquire his services this summer. He is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a right-back if told to do so by his manager.

We can expect Konsa to bring more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s backline. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 28, Konsa is playing in his prime, which makes him a worthy target for the Gunners to consider this off-season. He will also help the North London club challenge across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, Arteta would be wise to try everything in his power to get Konsa on board before the end of this summer transfer window.
