The representatives of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford have reportedly held initial talks with transfer bosses at Aston Villa ahead of the summer market.

The interest from the West Midlands comes during a period of transition for Trafford, who had only returned to Manchester City from Burnley in July 2025 for a reported £19 million.

Elsewhere, it is pointed out that wages have been a stumbling block for Newcastle United as of now, but interest remains in the North-East, whilst Tottenham are also said to be ‘looking at the situation’ of the 23-year-old – who is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.

While Manchester City would ideally like to keep their homegrown talent, James Trafford’s status as an England international – having earned his first senior cap earlier this season – means he is unlikely to accept another season spent predominantly on the bench.
