Determined to challenge city rivals Galatasaray, the Turkish Super Lig giants are targeting a marquee centre-forward to lead their ambitions for the 2026/27 campaign.
Villa are not yet prepared to part ways with their talisman, but current financial pressures could force a sale, particularly as they look to retain Arsenal target Morgan Rogers.
Fenerbahce are prepared to offer improved terms, underlining their desire to bring the’terrific‘ England international to Istanbul as he approaches the twilight of his career.
Watkins remains the focal point of Unai Emery’s high-intensity attack. He bagged 21 goals and five assists in 55 appearances across all competitions last season.
He played a key role in leading Villa to Europa League glory in May and securing a top-four Premier League finish.
Replacing a consistent goalscorer of Watkins’ calibre would require a significant outlay in the current transfer market as Villa prepare for a return to the Champions League.
With two years remaining on his contract, Villa retain significant leverage if they enter negotiations with Fenerbahce.
Watkins is currently on international duty at the World Cup, with England aiming to reach the semi-finals with a win over Norway on Saturday.
Villa are searching for a new midfielder following Amadou Onana’s injury. They were reportedly in the race for Johan Manzambi, who is now set to join Newcastle United.
