Aston Villa look set to be without Jadon Sancho for their Europa League quarter-final against Bologna after the winger sustained a shoulder injury. According to ExpressAndStar.com, he is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks.

Sancho was hurt in last week’s 1-1 friendly draw with Elche in Spain during a warm-weather training camp for the club’s non-international players. He fell awkwardly in the first half.

He is believed to have damaged a shoulder joint and will only return to training once pain free.

The timing is a blow for Unai Emery at the start of the season’s run-in. Sancho has struggled for consistency since arriving on a season-long loan last September, scoring just once in 31 appearances.

Even so, two of his three assists came in the wins over Lille and West Ham immediately before the international break. Villa visit Bologna for the first leg next Thursday, April nine.
