Aston Villa target winger as Morgan Rogers nears £117m Chelsea move | OneFootball

Unai Emery is preparing a significant squad rebuild as Aston Villa assess winger options, with Morgan Rogers on the brink of a British record £117m move to Chelsea.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Halesowen-born midfielder had a medical in London on Monday ahead of the anticipated switch. Left-back Lucas Digne is also close to joining Paris Saint-Germain after travelling to France following his World Cup return, and a release clause of around £8m has been activated for the 33-year-old.

When finalised, those deals would take Villa’s income to around £160m in a week, following Youri Tielemans’ £35m move to Manchester United. Leon Bailey is another likely departure, with Premier League newcomers Hull City in talks, and Villa will listen to offers for Evann Guessand.

Villa are also pushing for additions after Joao Gomes became their second signing of the window. The 25-year-old Brazilian completed a £38m move from Wolves on Monday and could feature in Tuesday’s friendly at Walsall.

Club-record signing Johan Manzambi will report next month after time off following the World Cup. Villa remain in talks with AC Milan over left-back Pervis Estupinan and could revive interest in Flamengo right-back Emerson Royal later in the summer.

Adding a winger is among Emery’s top priorities for the rest of the window. He is a big admirer of Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, Villa have heavily scouted PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye, and enquiries over Newcastle’s Harvey Barnes were made earlier in the summer.
