Aston Villa take on Crystal Palace at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals this evening.
Unai Emery’s team are bidding to end a 29-year wait for a major trophy this season, while Villa have not won the FA Cup since 1957. Villa lost 2-1 at Manchester City in midweek in a blow to their Champions League qualification ambitions. However, it’s 10 wins from their last 12 for The Villans who will be in confident mood.
Palace are aiming to reach their third FA Cup final. The Eagles have never won a major trophy, losing both previous final appearances to Manchester United (1990 and 2016).
Unai Emery has no injuries with an almost full-strength squad to select from, though Axel Disasi is ruled out. The on-loan Chelsea defender featured for the West Londoners in the third round and is cup-tied.
Ollie Watkins will hope for a recall after starting on the bench in midweek. Villa’s leading scorer spoke recently about his frustration with a reduced role. The 29-year-old has competed with January signing Marcus Rashford for the centre-forward role in recent weeks. John McGinn should also reinstated into the starting side.
Aston Villa predicted XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans, McGinn; Rogers, Rashford, Watkins.
Crystal Palace take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday 26th April 2025. Kick-off at Wembley is 17:15 BST.
The first FA Cup semi-final will be shown on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online.
