Atalanta Bergamo will host Bayern Munich this Tuesday, March 10, for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in the 2025-2026 season.

The Bavarian club, who have been delivering an impressive attacking display this season under the leadership of Harry Kane, will be aiming to secure a positive result away from home before the return leg at the Allianz Arena.

On their side, Atalanta, the last remaining Italian team in the competition at this stage, hope to capitalize on home advantage and the backing of their fans to gain a favorable result, despite the absence of their star forward Ademola Lookman.

It’s also worth noting that Bayern Munich have never before faced Atalanta in an official European competition. Tuesday’s match will therefore mark the first-ever continental encounter between the two teams.

A Norwegian refereeing trio

UEFA has appointed Norwegian referee Espen Eskås to officiate the match, assisted by his compatriots Jan Erik Engan and Isaak Elias Bashevkin.

Sigurd Kringstad will serve as the fourth official, while Dutchman Dennis Higler will be in charge of VAR (video assistant referee).

The first leg will take place on March 10, 2026, in Bergamo at 20:00 GMT, while the return leg is scheduled for March 18, 2026, at Munich’s Allianz Arena, at the same time.
