French midfielder Andy Diouf could reportedly make his maiden Serie A start when Inter Milan take on Atalanta on Sunday.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, Cristian Chivu is contemplating playing the 22-year-old from the start.

Inter Milan forked out €25 million to sign Andy Diouf from Lens in August after failing to lure Manu Kone away from Roma.

However, the Frenchman’s career in Serie A has started with a whimper rather than a bang.

Indeed, Diouf has amassed just 65 minutes of football in Italy’s top flight this season.

Diouf has struggled to secure regular first-team action in the middle of the park, finding himself at the bottom of the pecking order.

Yet, he has shown plenty of promise on the wing, deputizing for the injured Denzel Dumfries.

Furthermore, the left-footed star has fared far better than Luis Henrique despite being played out of position.

Therefore, Chivu is considering handing Diouf his first league start this season despite the magnitude of Sunday’s challenge.
