Inter Milan star Piotr Zielinski vowed the Nerazzurri will return stronger following a heart-wrenching 2-1 defeat at Atletico Madrid. 

Speaking to Prime Video via FCInterNews, the 31-year-old midfielder sounded unfazed by tonight’s heartache at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Indeed, Julian Alvarez and Jose Maria Gimenez scored on either side of halftime to inspire Atletico to a last-gasp win.

Meanwhile, Piotr Zielinski maintained his form resurgence with a well-taken goal at the start of the second half to draw Inter level.

Unfortunately, the Polish midfielder’s first Champions League goal in the Nerazzurri shirt was in vain.

Gimenez’s 93rd-minute header landed another significant morale blow on Inter, only days after a heartbreaking defeat in the Milan derby.

However, there’s no time for regrets, as Chivu’s side must already start to think about Sunday’s league clash against Pisa.

With Serie A leaders Roma three points away, the San Siro giants cannot afford another slip-up next weekend.

“We’re definitely disappointed with how it went,” Zeilinski admitted. “Losing like this after playing an excellent match always hurts.

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy against a great team, but we played well.

“We lacked the second goal to seal it, and in the end, we conceded.

“I think we won’t have problems; we are a great team.

“This was our second consecutive defeat, but our performances have always been at a high level.

“We need to be more focused defensively, finish more on target, and score goals.”

Furthermore, Zielinski confirmed that he is finally feeling good after an underwhelming start to life at Inter.

“I feel good, I always try to improve and give my best for the team,” he added. “Unfortunately, today my goal didn’t help, but we’ll recover.

“We have many matches to play. We are a great team.”

Speaking to Inter TV via FCInterNews, Zielinski underscored the importance of an immediate recovery.

“There’s disappointment,” he admitted. “Losing like this at the last moment isn’t nice.

“We were very close to at least securing a draw, but instead this defeat came, leaving us disappointed.

“On the goal, Bonny gave me a great pass,” he hailed his French teammate. “I didn’t think and just shot first-time.

“Unfortunately, we lost, and that’s what matters.

“Now we have to do well in the next game, try to get as many points as possible, and finish in the top eight.”
