L’Équipe report that Atlético Madrid have opened talks to sign VfB Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot (23). Talks between the club and player’s entourage are ongoing and an agreement with VfB is unnecessary given that the Frenchman has a reported €20m release clause.
Atlético’s interest in Millot comes just days after it emerged that Galatasaray were pursuing a deal to sign the 23-year-old attacking-midfielder. At the time, it was reported that Millot wanted a move to Turkey due to Galatasaray’s participation in the Champions League, but with Atlético now positioning themselves to sign the French youth international, a move to Spain may prove far more beneficial.
Millot’s departure is not expected to be a problem for Stuttgart as they have already brought in his replacement in Noah Darvich from Barcelona, while the Swabians have also signed Lazar Jovanovic from Red Star Belgrade, who can play on either wing.
The money from the Olympic Silver medalist’s transfer could also help Stuttgart fund the move of PAOK’s Giannis Konstantelias, as the fee for the 22-year-old has been a hurdle for the progression of his transfer.
