Atlético Madrid send fresh transfer message to Barcelona | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has this week fired a fresh warning the way of La Liga rivals Barcelona. This of course comes amid the latter’s ongoing pursuit of Julián Alvarez.

Barcelona have not been shy across the summer to date in making clear that frontman Alvarez is the club’s priority transfer target for next season.

Amid ongoing efforts to replace Robert Lewandowski, the Argentine has been identified as the ideal profile for Hansi Flick’s attacking setup.

As much culminated in the Blaugrana tabling an official offer for Alvarez last month, understood to have been worth a sum in the region of €100 million.

This proposal, however, was rejected out of hand by those in a position of power at the Metropolitano.

And as alluded to above, this week, the Atlético brass have again moved to reiterate their stance on the future of the club’s star goalscorer.

Speaking during an exchange with the media, as cited by journalist Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday, Rojiblancos president Enrique Cerezo assured:

“Joan Laporta is a good friend and he already knows where Julián Alvarez is going to play next season. Let me insist: Julián is our player and will be our player next season.”
