New Atlético Madrid director Mateu Alemany has this week hinted that the club could be active in the winter transfer window.
Speaking during an interview with Movistar (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), Alemany was drawn on the plans of those behind the scenes at the Metropolitano for the upcoming winter market.
And the former Barcelona chief did not hesitate in confirming:
“Those who know me, know I don’t set limits for myself. I aim as high as possible. That’s what Miguel Ángel has also instilled in me. And I’ll try to do my best.
“There’s time to analyze things when we arrive in October, and we’ll see in the following transfer windows what we can do to improve the squad.”
Calls have been widespread across the Atlético fanbase over the season’s early months for fresh blood to be added to Diego Simeone’s squad at the earliest opportunity.
This comes with the Rojiblancos, despite a busy summer window, having endured a hit-and-miss time of things in 2025/26 to date.
As things stand, Atléti sit 4th in the La Liga table, eight points adrift of table-topping arch rivals Real Madrid.
