Marseille twice came from behind to beat Lyon 3-2 in Ligue 1, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang settling it late to move OM within two points of their rivals.

According to L'Équipe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles endured a difficult night on the right, particularly after Igor Paixão came on at half-time. At 36 years and 256 days, Aubameyang became the oldest scorer in an OM-OL in Ligue 1.

Corentin Tolisso struck inside three minutes after a chaotic clearance. Gero Rulli kept Marseille alive with key stops, notably denying Roman Iaremtchouk in first-half added time, while Greenwood repeatedly tested Dominik Greif and saw one effort blocked by Clinton Mata.

Paixão levelled on 52 minutes with a trademark right-foot curler. Niakaté then cut out a Paixão cross with Aubameyang poised, before Rémi Himbert restored Lyon’s lead on 76 minutes.

Aubameyang dragged Marseille back to 2-2 on 81 minutes from Paixão’s pass. He then settled the contest on 90+1 minutes, Ethan Nwaneri delivering a fine cross after Himad Abdelli had won possession high.

Beye’s selections were bold, with Höjbjerg as captain and returns for Balerdi, Kondogbia, H.J. Traoré and Aubameyang. His changes proved decisive through Paixão’s goal and the assists from Paixão and Nwaneri.
