Samuel Essende is closing in on a move to BSC Young Boys, with a full agreement between the clubs reached on Monday 16 February, Sky Germany reports.
The DR Congo forward, 28, is expected to command up to €4.75 million including bonuses. Talks accelerated on Sunday night and he is set to sign in Bern on a deal running to 2029.
He was omitted from Augsburg’s squad for Sunday’s 1-0 win over 1.FC Heidenheim, a decision that pointed to an imminent departure.
Essende has managed only 462 minutes across competitions under Manuel Baum and predecessor Sandro Wagner, scoring twice.
January’s arrival of former SC Freiburg attacker Michael Gregoritsch underlined his reduced status in Augsburg’s plans.
