Aurélien Tchouaméni sat out France’s team session on Sunday, the day after their World Cup last-16 win over Paraguay, and his quarter-final involvement remains very uncertain.

According to L'Équipe, 18 players were present as Les Bleus returned to their base at Bentley University in the Boston suburbs. Mike Maignan, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba, Jules Koundé, Adrien Rabiot, Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé were not on the pitch with the rest of the group and limited themselves to treatment or indoor work.

The midfielder had already missed Saturday’s 1-0 victory because of a thigh injury.

There was encouragement regarding Marcus Thuram, who has rejoined group work after a calf issue, although he is not yet ready for full training. He began with laps alongside Lucas Digne, Manu Koné and Bradley Barcola, then moved to physical drills with fitness coach Cyril Moine.

France face Morocco in the quarter-final on Thursday at 22:00 in France.
