Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni were involved in a training-ground fight last season, and Real Madrid have now seemingly picked their side.

Manchester United have shown interest in both midfielders amid their desire to bring in a marquee name as part of a midfield overhaul at Old Trafford.

With Jose Mourinho at the helm, Real are also keen to make major changes to the squad, and are prepared to part ways with one of their superstar midfielders.

Decision made over Aurelien Tchouameni’s future

According to AS, Real Madrid want to “completely turn things around” after two trophyless campaigns.

To finance reinforcements, Real are reportedly open to a significant sale in midfield.

It is understood that Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga are the “main candidates” for departure.

Federico Valverde is also thought to be highly admired in England, but Real have not “lost faith” in the Uruguayan. As far as his future is concerned, Los Blancos consider “the matter closed.”

Aurelien Tchouameni is Manchester United’s dream target

This development should come as positive news to Manchester United, who are keen on signing Tchouameni.

Fabrizio Romano has previously claimed that Tchouameni is the “dream target” for the Red Devils, with recruitment director Christopher Vivell understood to be pushing hard for the 26-year-old midfield dynamo.

The 6ft 2in midfielder has just two years remaining on his current contract.

The La Liga giants are expected to demand a fee in the region of €100 million (£87m) for his services.

Given the exorbitant figures being quoted for Premier League-proven midfielders Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, an opportunity to sign a Champions League-winner and a guaranteed starter for France seems to be too good to pass up for United.
