According to Glorioso 1904, Fredrik Aursnes has been one of Norway’s standout performers at the World Cup, and his hometown Hareid has honoured him as he prepares for the last 16 meeting with Brazil.
The municipality’s official website highlighted his role in Norway’s run to the last 16, describing the Benfica midfielder as a key figure for his dedication, calm on the ball and international experience.
The local authority also expressed pride at seeing a hometown player compete on the game’s biggest stage, adding that the team are there to win, not merely to take part.
A giant screen has been set up at a school in Hareid so residents can watch Norway against Brazil together.
Aursnes, 30, remains an important presence for Norway and Benfica. He started all three group matches, featured against Ivory Coast, and now turns his focus to Brazil.
In Hareid he is regarded as a leading sporting figure and an example for younger generations, and has previously been labelled the most underrated player on the planet.
