Ayrton Costa hit out at the refereeing after Boca and Racing drew 0-0 at La Bombonera in Zone A of the 2026 Apertura, matchday 6.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, it was a stop-start, bruising contest, echoing the late 2025 semi-finals on the same pitch, which Racing won.

On 41 minutes of the first half, Maravilla Martínez used his right arm to gain position and caught the home centre-back in the face. Referee Leandro Rey Hilfer gave a foul and a yellow card, prompting Boca appeals for a red. In the ensuing melee, Martínez clashed with Tomás Belmonte, who then hit Santiago Sosa’s shoulder and, like Costa, finished on the turf.

After the stalemate, Costa said it felt as if decisions were going against Boca and that officials seemed to be against them.

He also referenced last season’s play-off meeting with Racing, saying they made it a very dirty game. He claimed Martínez struck off the ball three times and received only a booking, adding that he did not know what was happening.

Attention now turns to the Copa Argentina first round. Boca face Gimnasia de Chivilcoy, from Torneo Federal A, at the Estadio Padre Martearena in Salta on Tuesday 24 February at 21:15.

They return to Apertura duty on Saturday 28 February at 17:45 against Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza at La Bombonera. The matchday 7 meeting with Lanús has been rescheduled because the Granate play the Recopa Sudamericana second leg against Flamengo in Brazil.
