A week before the Bundesliga resumes, the Eagles were back out on the training pitch – including new signings Younes Ebnoutalib and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab.
Just under two weeks after signing off for the winter break with a 1-1 draw at Hamburger SV, Eintracht were back at work on Friday. Following a few words from head coach Dino Toppmöller, a guard of honour was formed for Mo Dahoud, who turned 30 on New Year’s Day, and assistant coach and birthday-boy Jan Fießer, as well as the team’s new signings.
In total, 28 players took to Pitch 4 at Deutsche Bank Park, including winter arrivals Younes Ebnoutalib and Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab, who respectively signed their contracts with Eintracht shortly before and after the turn of the year.
Farès Chaibi and Ellyes Skhiri remain absent due to their commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Jonathan Burkardt, Michy Batshuayi and Elias Baum were not involved either as they continue their recoveries from injury.
The first training session of 2026 was an intensive one as the players were split into two groups, with academy players Alexander Staff, Marvin Dills and Fousseny Doumbia also taking part.
There are seven days to go until the Eagles return to Bundesliga action when they host Borussia Dortmund under the Deutsche Bank Park floodlights on Friday 9 January (kick-off 20:30 CET) in the league’s first fixture of 2026.
